A new age of industry

Our two-building campus includes the renovation of two former warehouse spaces, including an historic 1918 ironworks.

As a working hub for the regional food economy, the Redd honors the roots of our neighborhood’s rich, hard-working industrial history and serves as a platform for the community to take part in the evolution of the good food movement

The Redd is located in the heart of Portland’s Central Eastside Industrial District—a neighborhood with a rich, hard-working industrial history that dates back to the mid-1800s. From here, food and durable goods were imported and exported with ease by railroad and river—sprouting a fruit and vegetable market on a street still known as “Produce Row.”

Now, many of the factories and industries that established the area as a center for agricultural goods and services continue to make their place here, and serve the community with over 17,000 jobs in warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing. Over the years the Central Eastside has grown to encompass food enterprises, small batch distilleries, coffee roasters, emerging art galleries, and local food retailers that keep the hardworking spirit of this neighborhood alive in a new age of industry.

The Redd honors the neighborhood’s roots and serves as a platform for the community to take part in the evolution of this vibrant neighborhood and the good food movement.
